works in progress...knitting

It is quite embarrassing to admit that I have multiple knitting works in progress.  My plan is to finish all of the wips listed here before the end of the year since the majority of them were started LAST year.  The madness must end.

1.     Moderne Log Cabin Blanket – Mandy & Josh’s wedding gift...they got married last September.  Block 9 is all that remains to be knit.  It is only approx.  55,000 stitches...(huge sigh).
2.     Pam’s Vest...she has been waiting since last April.  Poor patient Pam.
3.     Mom’s Constant Companion...felting it is all that remains.
4.     KAL scarf with deci belle…she finished hers almost a year ago.
5.     SOCKS…two pairs on the needles.  Love Bugs and Happy Birthday!  Oh, socks...there is a whole post worthy of my feelings on socks.  Stay tuned.
6.     My Guernsey Wrap.  I started this before I even knew what charts were.  Ha!
7.     My Pogona

Call me crazy but in spite of these WIPS I have decided to cast on a new project.  Color Affection!  Yes, I too must have one of these.  In my defense, I am taking a trip and need a project that will travel well and keep me occupied in the down times.  I am using Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight in Smoke on the Water, Porcini and Spinel that I purchased at the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, Oregon back in June.  I cannot wait for this beauty to be finished.

{this moment}

{this moment} - a Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A single, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Two years ago, a decision was declared to the universe. We were going to move to Oregon. The how would work itself out. The universe is amazing in that respect.

One year ago, we started looking at properties in the Willamette Valley and found the perfect spot. We joked and laughed the night before we saw it, because on paper it was perfect. It had everything we were looking for. Acreage (a good mixture of pasture and forest), out buildings, a small house, seasonal creek, and it was on water (river & lake).  With the both of us being Pisces living near a body of water has always been a dream. There just had to be something wrong with it! It was the last property we looked at that day and it was love at first sight. It was perfect.  Like most things in life, the timing wasn't right...yet.

So, we went back to Indiana and kept the positive thoughts and positive energy flowing.  Hoping that the property would still be available when the timing was right.  In October, we went back to Oregon and started looking at other properties. All the while comparing them to the perfect spot. Our broker suggested we go and look at the property again to see if our feelings had changed. Once we arrived and got out of the car, we realized our feelings had not changed at all.

One year later, I sit here in our slice of paradise and marvel at the fact that we did it.  We are no longer behind enemy lines.  Now the inner workings of our new life are starting to sort themselves out.  Precision and regularity charting the day to day tasks. The plan is homesteading. How small and self sufficient can we get? The objective of this blog is to document our homesteading journey; things I geek out on (Harry Potter & Battlestar Galactica being the first two that come to mind); insights into the meaning of life (ha!); keeping my nearest and dearest abreast of the current chapters of my life; and last but certainly not least, my adventures in creating (knitting being at the forefront)!

Cheers!
